Surtout connue pour ses travaux en architecture, en urbanisme et en design de mobilier, Charlotte Perriand a pourtant développé, au cours de son oeuvre, une « parenthèse photographique » durant l?entre-deux-guerres. Aborder son oeuvre du point de vue de la photographie revisite l?histoire du médium en soi : Charlotte Perriand est de ces « non-photographes » qui annoncent l?avènement de l?image comme langage hégémonique et transversal de communication.Best known for her work in architecture, urban planning and furniture design, Charlotte Perriand nevertheless developed a "photographic parenthesis" during the interwar period. Charlotte Perriand's photography, both personal and as part of her research, was prolific: documentary shots, raw photos, militant photomontages rooted in the political and social struggles of her time. Approaching her work from the point of view of photography revisits the history of the medium itself: Charlotte Perriand was one of those "non-photographers" who heralded the advent of the image as a hegemonic, transversal language of communication.
